Title: Confusion over foil wing sizing
Post by: mattydubster on January 14, 2021, 07:18:41 pm
I have a question regarding my front wing size.  I have been wingfoiling for about a year now, I started on a Gong Allvator XL and a gong SUP board and progressed pretty well. As I'm only 70kg, I've been able to get going consistently in about 10-11 knots on the same foil with a 55l board and an Ensis 4.5m wing.

I'm looking to upgrade my foil and want to go a little smaller to get more maneuverability but keep getting confused, and then subsequently change my mind with what I should be getting. My foil has 1844cm sq projected area and next sizes down seem to be anything from 1250-1500cm sq. To me that seems a little small, and although I know that as you progress you get better at engaging smaller foils, I don't really want to lose my 10 knot foiling ability.

So I'm just wondering what size should I be getting?

Many thanks

Matthew
