Title: Naish Wing / Foil / Board Recommendations
Post by: Stone25 on April 01, 2020, 05:06:34 am
Hi!

What do you think about the Naish Hover SUP Carbon Sandwich 2020 / 110L as a WingFoil-Starter board?

My weight is 75kg and I'm going to buy the Naish S25 4.6 wing.

Do you think, the Naish Jet 2000 or Jet 1650 foil would be better to start with (concerning my weight)?

Thanks!!!  :)

I'm 85 kg. I started on the 125 ltr version of that board, but with GoFoils (Maliko 280, 200 & IWA) so can't comment on the foils you've listed. I'd say the 110 could be a good starting board for you as long as you have some experience with either SUPs, kite/wind foiling, snowboarding, wakeboarding or even skateboarding. Could be a tad small as a first time board if you have zero watersports experience. You won't grow out of it in a hurry!
What's the wind like in your local area? The 4.6m will need at least 15 knots to get you going - some people can get going in 12 knots with that size wing but be warned, they are GOOD, and usually have lovely glassy conditions. Mushy, choppy conditions makes everything harder!!!!

Thanks for the info!

I think the 110L should be ok then. I live in northern germany so we have pretty much all conditions (lakes / north see) "available". It would be fine if the wing would work below 15kn. So the 5.3 would be the better choice (don't forget: my weight is 10kg lower than yours)?  ;)

110 is probably ok for your weight but bigger will be easier.   The 5.3 will be much easier to learn with.   I would definitely get the bigger foil.

I'm 65 kg and learnt using the 1650 but on a big board - Naish crossover 120 at 7'4.
Would I definitely say go for the 2000? I would say it depends on how confident you are and how much experience you already have. I think the 2000 may become a 'big' or light wind foil option when you are over the learning curve. As you get better you can get more performance out of smaller foil so might prefer something smaller anyway, especially if your board isn't small or you have plenty of horsepower /wing.

If you have no experience of foiling, then the 2000 is probably the better option.

Hi Stone25.  I'm wondering if you can report on your experience with the Naish gear.  I just ordered a Hover Wing 110L and a Jet 2000 foil.  Haven't ordered a wing yet, but am thinking of geting a 5m Echo.

I'm 75kg.  I surf and windsurf but have no foil experience yet.  I currently live in the SF Bay and am moving to Portland.  So will probably have strong winds available but want to also be able to get out in lighter winds.

How did it work out for you?  Any others out there have thoughts on said gear?  Thanks!
