Flapping wing!
« on: September 05, 2020, 10:40:59 pm »
Hi everybody

I'm just wondering whether anybody on here has had any issues with a wing constantly flapping?  I have a Naish Wingsurfer and lately I've noticed that it just flaps constantly, it's obviously very noisy and there just doesn't seem to be any where near as much power!  I can only assume that it has somehow stretched, there's not a lot else I can do apart from pump it up to the required 11psi.  I'm just wondering whether anyone else has suffered this and also if there's any chance whatsoever of rectifying it?

Cheers

Matthew

Yes.  This will eventually happen with all wings, but it happens a lot faster and is more obvious on the more flexible wings like the Naish, F-One and v2 Swingwing.  The Ripstop will eventually "blow out" .  It will stretch and start flapping.  The flapping will become a lot worse the faster you go upwind especially on the flexible wings as they tend to compress at the tip loosening the tension of the trailing edge, which will make the flapping even worse.

Hi Matthew,

how many hours did you have used your naish wingsurfer and which size is it?
I also have the naish wingsurfer (S25 5,3 and 3,6) and I havn't noticed such issues until now.

Thanks
Wolle
