WINGFOIL / Takuma Kujira, Armstrong HS1550« Last post by guest218 on April 25, 2021, 05:05:17 am »I am a novice wingfoiler on local bays, riding upwind and downwind on wind swell. At 68 Kg I am riding a 95L board with a 5m wing. I currently use a Takuma Kujira 1210 on a 75 cm mast. It works for me so far, but it has very sharp edges. I have been told some people “shape” the wing by sanding off the sharpness, but I am reluctant to modify a precision design. I am interested in any comparison in performance of the Kujira and Armstrong HS foils (in the 1400-1600 cm^2 area range: I believe the Armstrong HS1550v2 is similar in area to the Kujira 1210). I would exchange a bit of performance for safety ( the Armstrong seem to have blunter, more rounded corners). Would anyone on this forum have some comparisons on the two foils? Thank you for your advice.

![]() For sure! A friend of mine is using Skywing 5´8 with moses W873 - S483. Works pretty well. I don´t see any reason why it should not work with the W1100 as well. 94

WINGFOIL / Re: Naish Wing / Foil / Board Recommendations« Last post by Holokai on January 19, 2021, 08:30:51 pm »Hi Stone25. I'm wondering if you can report on your experience with the Naish gear. I just ordered a Hover Wing 110L and a Jet 2000 foil. Haven't ordered a wing yet, but am thinking of geting a 5m Echo.
I'm 75kg. I surf and windsurf but have no foil experience yet. I currently live in the SF Bay and am moving to Portland. So will probably have strong winds available but want to also be able to get out in lighter winds. How did it work out for you? Any others out there have thoughts on said gear? Thanks! 98

WINGFOIL / Confusion over foil wing sizing« Last post by mattydubster on January 14, 2021, 07:18:41 pm »I have a question regarding my front wing size. I have been wingfoiling for about a year now, I started on a Gong Allvator XL and a gong SUP board and progressed pretty well. As I'm only 70kg, I've been able to get going consistently in about 10-11 knots on the same foil with a 55l board and an Ensis 4.5m wing.
I'm looking to upgrade my foil and want to go a little smaller to get more maneuverability but keep getting confused, and then subsequently change my mind with what I should be getting. My foil has 1844cm sq projected area and next sizes down seem to be anything from 1250-1500cm sq. To me that seems a little small, and although I know that as you progress you get better at engaging smaller foils, I don't really want to lose my 10 knot foiling ability. So I'm just wondering what size should I be getting? Many thanks Matthew 100
WINGFOIL / Re: Things I've learnt as a newbie« Last post by Jethrow on January 08, 2021, 11:10:14 pm »Yeah Tangogeoff, I think I got more out of my session on the eBoard than I got from the towing, but I also have friends that swear by the towing.
I definitely think it's a personal thing and I'd say to people that didn't get to grips with one method, then for sure try the other. Good point about the windsurf muscle memory. I'm half a dozen session in now but I still revert to my old windsurfing habits when I'm not concentrating ![]() |
