Nice riding, Gunnar.   What is the size of that foil wing?

Hi Jim,

It's the 5.4

Gunnar:

The board looks great.

I am in the market for a board as are a lot of the guys at the local beach here so any input you can provide on these items will help us. Thank you.

Where can you get them if you are in the USA?
What are the costs fully shipped in the USA?
Any idea of sizes available here in terms of liters?
What are the features of the board? Why is it a good board? Based on what I have read its inexpensive in USD terms, and its well made, and light... doesn't stick, has a high amount of volume relative to its size so is dense, etc.
I would say it rides and has a profile much like the fanatic 5.4 ? would you agree if that's a fair statement.

Hi Russ,

I don't work for Groove.  But I know they ship worldwide.  I think at the moment they only make the G-Fuerte in 70 and 100L.

What makes this board good?  It basically has all the stuff I figured out over the last year.

The Hard and sharp rail shape in the tail (back foot) area prevents side slipping and drives the board forward when pumping.  The sharp edge at the back allows for a easily release for the water.  It has a small amount for rocker im the tail to help release from the water.  The Volume distribution is set to have the max volume under the front foot position which prevents the nose from sinking when getting up from you knees and this really helps to balance on the board.

It has a "Drag" handle in the nose which is there to help you drag the board through shorebreak.  This can also be used to balance yourself on the board.

Compared to the 5'4 Fanatic it is lighter and stronger, does not stick when you touch down, and does not slip sideways when pumping in really light winds like the Fanatic does.

Thanks Gunnar that is a fabulous review, really really helpful, a buddy is looking at the fanatic and I will tell him to consider this ...much obliged, board looks great by the way, nicely done.

I think volume distribution to support front foot is a massive design benefit, and imagine we will see more of that in other models, makes total sense now that I think of it, and I would love to have more of it in my existing stick. Most problems around getting up are nose down problems. If you have the nose more up then maybe take off is easier.

If I get hold of Groove I will post pricing and shipping availability and share what I learn.

Folks:

I spoke to the people at Groove, here is the Skinny on the G-Furte, Its a shame I didn't know this I just bought another board and this one would have been a strong candidate.  Probaby would have bought one. Also comes with boardbag which is cool. Carbon construction etc.

If you have further interest I have an email address for michele pezzato who managers their orders.

Prices (TAXES and boardbag included)

G-fuerte 70lt= 1200 USD
G-fuerte 100lt= 1400 USD
G-fuere 130lt=  1700 USD

Shipping in the range of $150 bucks.

Delivery time about 20/25 days from confirm.

Nice design work Gunnar. Good to see some independent ideas on wingboards. I have come to the same conclusions as you after a year on the wing and just built my latest board incorporating some of the same ideas: front foot volume, no tail chine but just a little tail rocker. I kept the side chine to the tail as I notice that when I am in swells and banked over that he tail sometimes touches the water on the turn. I dont know why people persist with the tail kick. For SUP foiling it makes sense but for Wing Foiling no sense. What volume board are you riding in the video and what are your conclusions after a year about board volumes for real world conditions?

The Board in the video is 70L, hence the name G-Fuerte 70.  I find that if the board is designed well, people can easily use Body Weight (kg) +/- 10 in almost any conditions.  I find that this board is much easier than my previous 85L board I was using.
